We love us some parks

(At Lillie Park South)

This is one of our favorite parks. It's a lovely biking distance (~2 miles), and has two fantastic play structures.

On this particular day, there was a blood-boiling incident with another mom. I won't get into the details, but we'll just call her "Self-righteous Overly-tan Boobs McGee in Ronald McDonald colors" and leave it at that. Publicly calling her a name on my blog makes me feel better.

Anyway, Mr. Henry and Mr. Justin brought kites, which Evey absolutely adores. So she had a fantastic time while I gave the evil-eye to the offending mom and gossiped with my pal, Erin. Ah, a lovely morning. :)

(At County Farm Park)

Evey and I needed to give Kevin some space to be sick and resting at home, so we had an afternoon adventure out to another wonderful park. This one has lots of smaller fun things for younger kids, and some great swings. Downsides: too few swings, a pit of wet sand, and an enormous play structure that scares the daylights out of me. Today, Evey chose the wet sand. Yaaaaaaay.

I will say this: it was very interesting to be at this park at 5:30pm instead of 10am. There was a completely different crowd of people, and far less people. In the morning, you tend to get playgroups, daycamps, or your standard stay-at-home parent types. In the evening, it was some very sweet working parent/at-home parent/kid combinations where everyone was really enjoying each others' company. Very nice.

  1. Gossiping with heather, yea!
    Dealing with self-righteous moms, boo!
Watching Henry react to self-righteous moms and then gossiping about that, priceless.
